Comparison of efficacy of intravenous labetalol and intravenous hydralazine for management of pre-eclampsia in pregnant women

Objectives: To compare the efficacy of intravenous Labetalol and Hydralazine in reduction blood pressure patients with severe pre-eclampsia.
 Methodology: This comparative study was conducted at Department Obstetrics Gynecology Ziauddin University Hospital, Karachi from1st June 2019 to 30th 2020. Total 208 pregnant women having pre-eclampsia (systolic ≥160 mmHg diastolic ≥110mmHg) were included study. Group A received I/V Labetalol. B Hydralazine. Efficacy drugs observed by number doses administered. Data analysed using SPSS version 26.
 Results: Systolic group significantly lower than hydralazine (105.5 ±11.3 vs. 115.8 ±17.1, p≤ 0.001). Diastolic also labetalol (p= 0.03). Number dosage (Labetalol) 3.2 ±1.2 (Hydralazine) 4.4±1.4, p =0.006).
 Conclusion: The results this show that is more effective as compared terms reducing systolic (Drugs) for preeclampsia.
